अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस कमेटी की महासचिव, कांग्रेस कार्यसमिति (सीडब्ल्यूसी) की सदस्य, सिरसा लोकसभा क्षेत्र की सांसद एवं पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री कुमारी सैलजा ने कहा है कि किसानों को उनकी उपज का लाभकारी मूल्य दिलाने के बड़े-बड़े दावे करने वाली भाजपा सरकार आज यह स्पष्ट करे कि 24 फसलों पर न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य (एमएसपी) की गारंटी का उसका वादा आखिर कहां गया।

कुमारी सैलजा ने कहा कि हरियाणा सहित देश के अनेक हिस्सों में मक्का उत्पादक किसान अपनी फसल को औने-पौने दामों पर बेचने को मजबूर हैं। जिस मक्के का घोषित न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य 2410 रुपये प्रति क्विंटल है, वह कई मंडियों में लगभग 1300 रुपये प्रति क्विंटल तक बिक रहा है। इससे किसानों को प्रति क्विंटल हजार रुपये से अधिक का नुकसान उठाना पड़ रहा है। सांसद ने कहा कि किसान पूरे वर्ष मेहनत करता है, मौसम की मार झेलता है, बढ़ती लागत का बोझ उठाता है और जब फसल मंडी तक पहुंचती है तो उसे अपनी उपज का उचित मूल्य भी नहीं मिल पाता। यह स्थिति अत्यंत चिंताजनक है। यदि सरकार एमएसपी घोषित करती है तो यह उसकी जिम्मेदारी है कि किसानों को उस मूल्य पर खरीद की प्रभावी व्यवस्था भी उपलब्ध कराए। कुमारी सैलजा ने कहा कि भाजपा ने किसानों से अनेक वादे किए थे, लेकिन वास्तविकता यह है कि किसान आज भी लागत, कर्ज और बाजार की अनिश्चितताओं से जूझ रहा है। किसानों को केवल घोषणाएं नहीं बल्कि उनकी उपज का सुनिश्चित और लाभकारी मूल्य चाहिए।

सांसद ने मांग की कि केंद्र और राज्य सरकार तुरंत हस्तक्षेप कर मक्का सहित सभी घोषित एमएसपी फसलों की प्रभावी सरकारी खरीद सुनिश्चित करें, ताकि किसानों को उनकी मेहनत का उचित मूल्य मिल सके और उन्हें आर्थिक नुकसान से बचाया जा सके। कुमारी सैलजा ने कहा कि कांग्रेस पार्टी किसानों के हितों की रक्षा के लिए निरंतर आवाज उठाती रही है और आगे भी किसानों के अधिकारों तथा सम्मानजनक आय के लिए संघर्ष जारी रखेगा।

The Congress General Secretary, CWC Member, Former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja questioned the BJP government over its promise of guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 24 crops, alleging that farmers continue to suffer due to inadequate procurement and falling market prices. Kumari Selja said maize growers in Haryana and several other parts of the country are being forced to sell their produce at prices significantly below the declared MSP. While the MSP for maize has been fixed at ₹2,410 per quintal, she claimed that farmers in several mandis are receiving nearly ₹1,300 per quintal, resulting in losses of more than ₹1,000 per quintal. The government must explain what happened to its promise of ensuring MSP for farmers. Declaring MSP alone is not enough; there must be an effective procurement mechanism to guarantee farmers receive the announced price,” she said.

Kumari Selja noted that farmers spend months cultivating crops while facing rising input costs, adverse weather conditions and market uncertainties. However, when the produce reaches the market, many are unable to secure remunerative returns for their hard work. Kumari Selja alleged that despite repeated assurances, farmers continue to struggle with mounting costs, debt and volatile market conditions. She said farmers need guaranteed and profitable prices for their produce rather than promises that remain unfulfilled.

She urged both the Centre and the Haryana government to intervene immediately and ensure effective procurement of maize and all crops covered under the MSP regime, so that cultivators are protected from financial losses and receive fair compensation for their produce. The Sirsa MP reiterated that the Congress would continue to raise issues concerning farmers’ rights, agricultural income and rural livelihoods.
