अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस कमेटी की महासचिव, कांग्रेस कार्यसमिति (सीडब्ल्यूसी.) की सदस्य, सिरसा लोकसभा क्षेत्र की सांसद एवं पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री कुमारी सैलजा ने केंद्र सरकार द्वारा एक जुलाई से लागू की जा रही नई ग्रामीण रोजगार योजना वीबी जी, आरएएम जी को लेकर गंभीर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि यदि नई व्यवस्था से राज्यों पर अतिरिक्त आर्थिक बोझ पड़ता है, मजदूरों के अधिकार कमजोर होते हैं या रोजगार की उपलब्धता प्रभावित होती है, तो सरकार को इस पर तत्काल पुनर्विचार करना चाहिए।
कुमारी सैलजा ने कहा कि महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी अधिनियम (मनरेगा) करोड़ों ग्रामीण परिवारों के लिए आर्थिक सुरक्षा का आधार रहा है। यह योजना केवल रोजगार उपलब्ध कराने तक सीमित नहीं रही, बल्कि ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूती देने, पलायन रोकने और गरीब परिवारों की आजीविका सुरक्षित करने में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती रही है। सांसद ने कहा कि नई योजना को लेकर विभिन्न राज्यों द्वारा वित्तीय हिस्सेदारी, मजदूरी दर, रोजगार के दिनों तथा अन्य प्रावधानों पर उठाई गई आपत्तियां यह संकेत देती हैं कि योजना के कई पहलुओं पर व्यापक सहमति नहीं बन सकी है। यदि स्वयं विभिन्न राज्य सरकारें अतिरिक्त वित्तीय बोझ और व्यवहारिक कठिनाइयों की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित कर रही हैं, तो केंद्र सरकार को उनकी बात गंभीरता से सुननी चाहिए।
कुमारी सैलजा ने कहा कि कांग्रेस का स्पष्ट मत है कि किसी भी नई योजना का उद्देश्य गरीबों के अधिकारों को कम करना नहीं, बल्कि उन्हें और अधिक मजबूत बनाना होना चाहिए। यदि रोजगार गारंटी योजना में राज्यों की वित्तीय जिम्मेदारी बढ़ाई जाती है, तो इसका सीधा असर ग्रामीण विकास कार्यों और मजदूरों को मिलने वाले रोजगार पर पड़ सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि मजदूरी दर को वर्तमान महंगाई के अनुरूप बढ़ाया जाना चाहिए ताकि श्रमिक सम्मानजनक जीवनयापन कर सकें। साथ ही, कृषि सीजन के दौरान रोजगार उपलब्ध कराने से जुड़े प्रावधानों को भी स्थानीय परिस्थितियों के अनुसार लचीला बनाया जाना चाहिए।
कुमारी सैलजा ने केंद्र सरकार से मांग की कि नई योजना को जल्दबाजी में लागू करने के बजाय सभी राज्यों, पंचायत प्रतिनिधियों, श्रमिक संगठनों और विशेषज्ञों से व्यापक विचार-विमर्श कर आवश्यक संशोधन किए जाएं। साथ ही यह सुनिश्चित किया जाए कि ग्रामीण गरीबों के रोजगार, आय और सामाजिक सुरक्षा से किसी भी प्रकार का समझौता न हो। सांसद ने कहा कि कांग्रेस पार्टी हमेशा ग्रामीण गरीबों, किसानों, खेत मजदूरों और वंचित वर्गों के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए प्रतिबद्ध रही है और भविष्य में भी उनके हितों की आवाज मजबूती से उठाती रहेगी।

The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, CWC Member, Sirsa MP and Former Union Minister Kumari Selja expressed serious concern over the Centre’s proposed rural employment scheme VB-G RAM G, scheduled to be implemented from July 1.
Kumari Selja said that if the new scheme leads to additional financial burden on states, weakens workers’ rights, or affects guaranteed employment opportunities, the government must immediately reconsider its decision. She said the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) has been a critical support system for millions of rural families, providing employment security, strengthening rural livelihoods, reducing migration and supporting the rural economy.
Kumari Selja added that any structural changes to such an important welfare scheme without broad consensus could adversely affect vulnerable sections of society who depend on it for survival. She noted that objections raised by several states regarding financial sharing, wage structure and employment guarantees reflect a lack of consensus on key provisions of the proposed scheme. The Centre, she said, must take these concerns seriously. Kumari Selja further stressed that wages under rural employment programmes must be revised in line with inflation to ensure dignified living conditions for workers. She also suggested that employment provisions during agricultural seasons should remain flexible based on local requirements.
Kumari Selja urged the Centre not to rush implementation and called for wide-ranging consultations with state governments, Panchayati Raj institutions, labour organisations and experts. She reiterated that the Congress party remains committed to safeguarding the rights of rural workers, farmers and marginalised communities.

The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, CWC member and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has said that any action against long-settled poor families in Haryana, including those in Bhuna (Fatehabad) and other areas, must be preceded by proper and dignified rehabilitation.
Kumari Selja said that families who have been living in these settlements for 40–50 years have built their lives, raised children and depended on these areas for livelihood. Removing them without alternative arrangements would be unjust and inhumane. She said that if government land needs to be cleared for any reason, it is the responsibility of the administration to first ensure alternative housing, basic facilities and livelihood security for the affected families.
Kumari Selja urged the state government to engage in dialogue with the affected families and find a humane and just solution. She said that development and rule of law are important, but protecting the rights, dignity and shelter of the poor is equally essential. She reiterated that eviction, if unavoidable, must always follow rehabilitation and not precede it.
